For enquiries please Whatsapp message the office mobile on 07776688646.

Lauder

Our Lauder yard sits just off the A68, 1.5 miles from the petrol station at Lauder.

Approximately 20minutes from the Edinburgh bypass/Pathhead/Galashiels. 15mins from Humbie. 10 mins from Earlston.

Excellent off road hacking.

With over 70 acres of grazing and a large farm steading there are a variety of options for people who wish to have their own segregated areas for multiple horses. We can tailor packages to suit individuals.

We have recently re-furbished 10 stables. There are a number of other barn areas/sheds that could be utilised in a number of ways. The steading space lends itself to being divided up so that persons with larger number of horse feel like  that they have their own yard.

The grazing is good hill grass, not too lush but a good incline to keep the animals naturally fit. There is an area with smaller paddocks and shelter that might suit smaller native breeds.

The fields have a degree of natural shelter and have supported horses living out all year round.

There is no through road and we are the last property on  the road. It’s is a very quiet peaceful environment. We are in essence boundaried by 1000s of acres of forestry and Lauder Common ground so there is ample access to off road hacking.

We will have someone living on site shortly and use part of the yard for our equine vet practice as a drop off and pick up point for parcels etc.

For people with multiple horses, who they want to run as their own herd, we could accommodate the creation of smaller fields. (working on the basis of 1.5 acres per horse)

Our ultimate aim is to create a large track system around the periphery of the property.

For enquiries, including prices and viewings please Whatsapp message the office mobile on 07776688646.

Duns

Field split into two 2.7 acre paddocks (no more than 2 horses in each paddock)

There’s good natural shelter in the field but no field shelter yet.

Stables available for emergencies on main yard at a day rate.  Hay or haylage available to buy.

Please see the above tabs for our offerings on retirement livery and youngstock livery.

YOUNGSTOCK LIVERY

  • Equine vet practice base on both site and vets are part of the team performing regular checks as well as dealing with any emergencies.
  • Where possible youngstock will generally be turned out 24/7 for as long as possible.
  • We believe it is important for their development that youngsters are able to interact with other horses of a similar age. Likewise it takes a ‘herd’ to raise a well-rounded horse that will keep itself out of trouble in the future. So, at times we will also run our youngsters as part of a herd with an assortment of horses. Care is taken at housing to ensure there is no bullying.

Standard package cost £170 / month

Included :

  • Daily checks
  • 3 worm egg counts a year and/or where applicable wormers plus an annual Pramox in November.
  • Additional forage will be provided if necessary
  • Quarterly weight check, body condition score and photos recorded and sent to owner.

Not included :

  • Hard feed
  • Daily in feed supplements and medication
  • Advanced veterinary care and treatment
  • Vaccinations and dental care
  • Purchase of Rugs
  • Farriery

More info:

  • Owners are encouraged to use one of our regular farriers to trim horse’s feet. Where this is the case we are happy to hold. Liveries will be charged at the going rate for trimming.
  • Youngsters running in the herd will not be permitted to be shod behind.
  • No pre-movement strangles test required for low risk “known” horses. Other horses will be subject to a guttural pouch lavage upon arrival at the current practice rate and only admitted to the herd following a negative result. Strangles vaccinations are not included in the price but are recommended if owners wish for their horses to be protected.
  • Rugs will need to be supplied and repaired as necessary by the owner.
  • Owners are welcome to visit your horse by prior arrangement.
  • Insurance – We ask that horses with a value of over £1000 are insured for loss of animal and that owners have suitable 3rd part liability insurance. We strongly recommend animals are insured for veterinary fees.
  • We usually suggest a trial month. With the first months fees paid up front. Thereafter fees are paid by monthly standing order in advance.
  • We expect youngstock to be able to be caught, led and have their feet pick up for a farrier/hoof-trimmer. They will be handled by our staff as and when required but will not receive any formal training unless by prior agreement for which there will be a fee.

Where possible, horses will be turned out 24/7, even during the winter months. Our fields have a combination of natural and man-made shelters.
